I love creating pieces for my home. I’ve recently been working on a set of patent drawing collages for my office. As a photographer and digital artist, patent drawings of viewers, cameras and image-making devices are particularly intriguing. The set of images features:

1. Stereoscopic Viewer created by E. W. Sparling
2. Kodak Eastman camera created by George Eastman
3. Slide Viewer created by Thomas Clark

I am sharing these three images with everyone out there in the InternetLands FOR FREE! You can download the image files below and print them out for your home or office.

DIY Printing & Framing

1. Download the high-resolution images: Stereoscopic Viewer Print –  Eastman Camera Print –  Slide Viewer Print
*Your browser will open a new window for each high-resolution jpeg file. Right click on the file and save the file to your computer.

2. Print the 8 in. x 10 in. images.
*Tips on printing: Ideally you should print the images on an inkjet printer. However, a good color laserjet printer should also yield a beautiful result. Make sure to print at the highest print setting available. The files have been set up for printing on 8.5 in. x 11 in. paper. Make sure that the images are printed 100% scale.
*Choosing paper: You want to print on a good quality photographic paper. An affordable option is the Brilliant brand of papers available at Calumet Photographic. I prefer their high quality matte for these images.

3. Frame the images! You can find used 8 in. x 10 in. frames at a flea market or purchase new, modern frames at places like A.C. Moore or Ikea. I used matching white frames from A.C. Moore. Hang your images in a row or salon-style (at random heights near each other).

Added Bonus: WIN A SET OF PRINTS!

This week’s Foto Friday is a FOUND Foto Friday. Like many photographers, I just love old photographs. And I especially love my family’s old photographs. I wanted to post some pictures of my parents from the 1970s. They were married in 1972 and next week they will celebrate 38 years together. It’s strange to think about what they were like as a young couple without a family.

Way to rock two drinks at once Mom! And how cool are the drapes in the image below? I want them, immediately! Also, is that a vintage Pepsi can I spot behind the ice bucket Dad?

During college I got a hold of their Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera and created many images using this wonderful little machine. Unfortunately those days are over now that the film is unavailable. At that time I also absconded with their super fun photo albums. I love how my Mom used a label maker to create the bright blue labels on the front.

Oh those pre-digital days… where every image mattered.

What is Foto Friday? I post a photograph every Friday.  Let me know what you think!

I like to think of myself as a fairly positive person. As someone who is trying to make art, while building a personal business, and at the same time teaching a bunch of college classes, I can get overwhelmed. Yesterday was a particularly bummer-of-a-day for me. I was feeling totally swamped by my commitments, but there was really nothing to do about it but toughen up and get through it. It is my choice to pursue these various interests and I’m so happy to be doing it. However, sometimes the thought of a normal nine-to-five job with health benefits and a steady schedule is amazing!

My Dad is an absolutely old-school business man. He also happens to love motivational-type-business-talk which amuses me! I definitely got my positive outlook from my Dad, but I’ve never been taken in by a mantra per se. Though, I did steal his I FEEL HAPPY HEALTHY TERRIFIC keychain awhile back. Is that Helvetica I see?

Today I decided to take on a new plan-of-attack to deal with the crazyness of making lesson plans, submitting client work on time, being creative, finishing that last dress I started sewing and planning a wedding! (Remember, I’m engaged!) As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I am a bit of a shoe freak. Today I decided to wear a pair of shoes that are totally impractical but give me that I-can-conquer-the-world feeling. The beautiful black, patent leather Calvin Klein stilettos below kept me smiling all day. Well, they kept me smiling until about 6.5 hours in to my day when I started to feel the pain of these 3 inch beauties. In class, a student said that no one was messin’ with me in my fierce heels. I agree, at least not today they weren’t.

My fiance and I are trying to narrow down our wedding date and location. We’ve almost got it finalized… fingers crossed! Our next step will be to create some fun Save-the-Dates for our friends and family. I am no stranger to making Save-the-Dates since I sell custom designs on Etsy. It all started when I created a post-it note style Save-the-Date for my good friends Mike and Jill; take a look at some of the photographs from their wedding!  The post-it note style Save-the-Dates are my favorite to make because they are unique and they can stick to anything!

All of my designs feature bold color schemes with a mod or retro styling. While most wedding invitations are more formal, you can really have fun with the Save-the-Date. I think brides today can really break any rules they want. Every component of a wedding should really reflect the style and personality of the couple.

I cheated a little bit this week with my Foto Friday post as these are all “product” photographs. Check out all of my custom designed items on Etsy!
